We hear you: Affordability matters

By the CDHP team

Oral health matters may have reached millions today. Public radio's Diane Rehm spent an hour discussing a range of dental issues with former HHS Secretary Dr. Louis Sullivan; Maryland dental director and ASTDD past-president Dr. Harry Goodman; and CDHP's own Colin Reusch. (Archived audio here.)

One topic came up again and again during listener questions: the cost of dental care. You could hear the worry in callers' voices. And their plight is no surprise. Public polls show that cost concerns stop people from getting care. Here are two policy actions that could help families with children: 1) extend tax credits for children's dental coverage purchased through health insurance marketplaces, and 2) save the Children's Health Insurance Program, which runs out of funding in fall 2015.

The working families who benefit from these actions are already choosing dental coverage. Let's make it affordable.
