Dental Visits for Medicaid Children: Analysis and Policy Recommendations

Recent publications including a report by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) and an article in the June 2012 issue of Pediatrics note an increase in dental visits for children enrolled in Medicaid. This brief provides further analysis, examining the various factors that may explain this increase in utilization and how these children received care while also making policy recommendations for further improving access to and quality of dental care for underserved populations.
