CDHP welcomes its newest board members
As 2017 comes to a close, we at the Children’s Dental Health Project (CDHP) find ourselves reflecting on the friends and partners who play key roles in helping CDHP achieve our mission. I feel especially fortunate to have a passionate and committed Board of Directors that governs the organization and offers insights that inspire our ongoing work.
This year, we welcomed three new members to the board, and I am thrilled to have their unique perspectives.
|Michele Penrose||Gerald Beechum||Laura Smith|
- Michele Penrose understands the power of strategic partnerships within the dental health industry. She has 17 years of experience at Henry Schein Inc., a global distributor of health care supplies. She currently serves as their Director of Global Professional Relations.
- Gerald Beechum brings unique expertise from his career in business, finance and investing. He is currently Managing Partner of White Cornus Lane Investments (WCLI), an active private equity investor. He previously spent more than 15 years at JPMorgan.
- Laura Smith has experience advancing policies and programs to meet children’s and families’ oral health needs. Now retired, she was President and CEO of Washington Dental Service Foundation for 15 years and previously worked at Seattle Children’s Hospital and in local government.

The Children’s Dental Health Project is grateful for the knowledge and unique perspectives that all of our board members bring. Our newest members strengthen our board’s diversity and while it may sound cliché, we know there is strength in diversity.
Today, a variety of barriers to children’s oral health have their roots in systemic inequalities. Building a board that can help us understand and address these complex challenges is essential to making continued progress.
