Oral Health is a key component of overall health and well-being across the lifespan. Treatment for oral health is safe throughout pregnancy; however, a 2004 study revealed that 22% of US women reported that they never accessed oral health care during pregnancy, and that less than one third visited a dentist in the two to nine months following the birth of their infants.1
