Seasonal Intern

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Under direct supervision of the Operations Manager, the Intern provides support for numerous projects aimed at improving the oral health of women, children and families. The CDHP internship program is designed to provide an atmosphere for students to use their skills to support the mission of CDHP while learning about and furthering our programs and initiatives and expanding their existing knowledge and skill-set in various arenas. The Intern will support one or more Project Managers and general responsibilities will include: the development and dissemination of project-related materials including drafting briefs and reports, and summarizing research; participation in project planning and coordination; and providing staff support through other tasks, as needed.

NATURE OF WORK
This is an internship that works with other CDHP staff, partner organizations, funders, and state and federal health agencies to achieve organizational goals. This position requires the exercise of discretion, independent judgment, and strong individual accountability.

WORK DUTIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Project Coordination

  • Assist with project planning and implementation.
  • Assist staff and consultants to coordinate and administer communications, marketing, and fundraising efforts.
  • Utilize and manage project-related databases.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals, reports to funders, and other documents.
  • Coordinate and prepare written summaries of project meetings, technical assistance meetings, including committee meetings and conference calls.

Research and Writing

  • Assist in developing, assembling, and distributing program and policy-related materials in collaboration with others, internal and external to CDHP.
  • Conduct research, using various methods, in response to technical assistance needs.
  • Assist in the development of project-related materials, including conducting necessary research efforts.
  • Assist in the implementation and summary of program evaluation projects.

Other

  • Perform tasks associated with coordination and administration of conferences, meetings, and other related events.
  • Provide administrative and project support to staff and consultants.
  • Perform other duties, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
To qualify for an internship with CDHP, applicants must have completed at least 30 credits toward their bachelor’s degree at an accredited college or university with a combined GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Abilities/Experience

  • Demonstrated interest in and/or prior involvement with children’s health or dental health.
  • Excellent research and writing skills.
  • Ability to communicate with a variety of audiences, including advocates, health care providers, federal, state, and local officials, and the public.
  • A proven track record of working collaboratively with diverse groups.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high performance within assigned time frames.

SALARY: This is an unpaid internship. Travel will be reimbursed.
